Photographer Of The Week Ray Laskowitz

"I once photographed a painter whose work was brilliant and vibrant. When I asked him about it, he said "I am not afraid of color." Good words to live by, especially at a time when many photographs are judged by their technical strengths rather then the inherent joys of light, color, movement, emotion and engagement between the subject and the creator. I'm not afraid of color either.
My images are small slices of time, color and light. My images are bold. They pop. They are icons. They are captured moments. They shimmer. They move. They shine. They are bright. They are energetic."

I started out by telling stories as a photojournalist. As I moved into more commercial work, my worked moved from literal and documentary into something that reaches more into the heart of the scene. Something that might tell the viewer a little bit about me. Something that might tell the viewer about how the relationship between the subject and I evolve."
