Hawaiian Waterfalls

Aloha,

When most people think of Hawaii, tropical beaches come to mind, and even though it is true we are famous for our beaches we have much more to offer when it comes to natural beauty. Take our waterfalls for example; Hawaii is home to some of the world's most incredible waterfalls!

Mt. Wai'ale'ale Crater on Kauai is said to be one of, if not the wettest place on earth, receiving as much as 450 inches of rain every year! No wonder Kauai contains beautiful waterfalls such as Wailua, Opaekaa, and Waipoo falls. Though, the Garden Island's most breathtaking falls are only accessible by treacherous hikes or helicopter tours.

Oahu is not generally known for its waterfalls, but it does have some worth visiting; Manoa, Waimea and Manawili falls are all easy to access along short hiking trails.

Maui is the best island for seeing waterfalls up close without going too far out of the way. The Road to Hana on the windward, or east side is home to some incredible falls that are surrounded by lush green foliage. Check out Waikani, Halpuaena, and the numerous falls in Oheo Gulch on your next visit!

Ironically, the most popular waterfall on the Big Island of Hawaii is called Alaska Falls. The waterfall itself is approximately 440 feet tall and is along a level trail for easy viewing. Rainbow Falls, where rainbows are often visible and Boiling Pots falls are also extremely beautiful and conveniently located just outside of Hilo.

Hawaii's waterfalls make up dozens of reasons to choose the islands for your next vacation!
